Today we received news straight from Disney that Tiana is making her way to BOTH coasts!
If you have been keeping up with current events, you would know that society has finally begun playing catch up. The Black Lives Matter movement has created more change than ever! Because of this, people have been more aware and educating themselves on what they may have done to contribute to the problem. One of those education topics was the origin of the beloved ride: Splash Mountain.
Splash Mountain has been a favorite for so many years, and still is, but the original story that this ride came from is the film "Song of the South". Although the ride itself does not include the racist story line that the film does, it doesn't take away from the fact that it was the inspiration behind the water ride. Many Disney fans already knew this fact, but it was recently brought to light to the general public, resulting in a flurry of petitions to re-imagine the ride.
There were a few ideas that gained traction; Pocahontas, Tangled, but majority wanted The Princess and the Frog.
Tiana would be a perfect fit considering Splash Mountain already has scenery matching the south and the princess lives in the bayou.
As a Disney fan I will definitely miss Splash Mountain. After all, its been around for literally my entire life. Even though it is a change, its no different from the revamp of Ellen's Energy Adventure at Epcot or turning The Tower of Terror over in Anaheim into Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission BREAKOUT!
Who else is excited to take a trip to the bayou?
